NOTES

This story is rooted in my own experience of loss. After my father's passing, I confronted a period of profound loneliness and pain that once felt uniquely mine. Over time, understanding trauma more deeply, this personal grief transformed into empathy for the shared human experience. That's the lens through which I tell this story.

In Mozambique, the conflict in Cabo Delgado has torn families apart, claimed lives, and displaced communities, leaving wounds that will take years to heal. Submergido explores the intersection of personal and collective trauma, following a single family affected by war while reflecting universal emotions like loneliness, loss, and resilience that can hopefully resonate with audiences anywhere.
